Description About the Event

The Royal College Doctors’ Association(RCDA) successfully organized a programme for Grade 6 hostel students and their parents on 19th April 2026 at the RCU Auditorium from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., in collaboration with ROCOHA.

The initiative was designed to support both students and parents during the transition to hostel life, with a focus on promoting emotional wellbeing and fostering resilience to ensure a smoother adjustment.

The session was conducted by Prof. Miyuru Chandradasa, RCH 2002, who delivered a highly engaging and interactive presentation structured around seven key areas. Drawing from his own experience as a former hosteller, he shared practical insights that resonated strongly with both students and parents. Students actively participated through questions and discussions, while positive feedback from parents during the closing remarks reflected the value and impact of the programme.

The event was attended by the Deputy Principal, Warden, RCDA President and Secretary, RCDA members, ROCOHA President Mr. Nalaka Hettiarachchi, Mr. Nirmala Sarathchandra, members of ROCOHA, as well as Grade 6 students and their parents.

The overall organization of the programme was led by Dr. Pramil Liyanage, President of RCDA, and Secretary Dr. Mahesh Kumbukage, together with the RCDA team. Coordination of the ROCOHA component was undertaken by Mr. Nirmala Sarathchandra with the support of fellow members.

Overall, the programme was a well-structured and successful initiative that effectively addressed the emotional and practical aspects of transitioning to hostel life, providing meaningful guidance and reassurance to both students and their parents.

Special appreciation is extended to Prof. Miyuru Chandradasa for his valuable contribution, dedication, and insightful delivery, which greatly enriched the session and made it a meaningful experience for all participants…!
